On one side, the Pagasetic Gulf, on the other the Aegean Sea. Gurgling water in fountains. Sunbeams through foliage: sycamore, apple, chestnut trees, oaks, beeches, gardenias, hydrangeas, camellias … In this fertile soil of Central Greece, nature blossoms. Paths, old churches, beaches with green waters. From high above, the villages of Pelion are gazing at them like balconies. A weekend is not enough to sate, but it is enough to love it forever.
A destination for locals and sophisticated, alternative tourists. Fresh fish, delicious fish soup and seafood in the resort taverns, traditional and scenic accommodation. Aboard a boat, you can discover the secret beauties of the Pagasetic Gulf and the Aegean Sea.
All that beauty could not but give birth to
myths. According to mythlogy, Pelion was the home of the Centaurs and of wise Chiron, next to whom Achilles and Asclepius studied, Asclepius who studied
medicine, establishing the snake as its symbol. Around you, mansions, stone fountains and cobblestones, traditional luxurious guesthouses and five-star hotels, churches, local flavors. In those villages – architectural jewels of Pelion – you will feel the purity and quality of life of a bygone era.

In the area of Platanias, we can find the ancient city of Sipiada, and there is, also, a
mention in Herodotus that this place was dedicated to the Nereids, sea goddesses, and the goddess Thetis, who was snatched by Peleus in one of the caves in today's “Mpournia” near Platanias. The area is scattered with ruins of ancient temples (of the goddess Artemis and others), as well as with post - byzantine monuments and churches with rare wall paintings.
Platanias is a beautiful fishing village in the south-east of Pelion, opposite the North Sporades Islands, Skiathos, Skopelos and Allonisos and opposite Euboea.
There are quite a few paths, cobblestones and streets starting from Platanias and leading walkers to neighbouring resorts and beaches in idyllic locations, such as Mikro, Kastri etc. Platanias is a wonderful resort with a strongly traditional character, with quiet Aegean beaches, and that is why it is preferred by vacationers of all ages who wish to spend their holidays with tranquility and comfort, having the possibility to explore and have an adventure.
